Actually, both are good ideas.

I've done a luau, Hawaiian shirts required, so your firm would be a good resource.

As for crossword puzzles, there are good software packages available, and fairly inexpensive. They allow you to dictate the words you want included (and the clue for each) and then the software fills in the rest and makes a professional looking crossword puzzle for your newsletter, Xmas card, party invitation, etc.

This probably isn't exactly what you are looking for as you sound like a large corporation of fuddy duddy's.

I have noticed, time and again, when the "Hawaiian Shirt Fridays" are put into practice your employees become "at home" and a lot more productive. It's a festive atmosphere that is created. Believe me it works. I've seen it time and time again.

Another fun thing that I have seen boost moral is to put a crossword puzzle into the company newsletter. It's not the easiest thing to make, and you have to make it yourself, so that you can incorporate all sorts of little trivial information about the people working in your departments. Putting the attention onto your people by being in the "crossword" puzzle is a definite plus for moral.

[...] If you are thinking this sounds like fun, look around for your own opportunities to target a change, break down the steps toward that change, model it for the group by taking the first few steps toward the change, and keep moving into the change as soon as some of them begin to model the change back to you. Want more ideas of how to start? [...]
