Technology and People Meet

I visited the Conversationblog today and found an example of the kind of blog I like best.

I like blogs that have a tight focus. When I go looking for something, I want to see additional information from that source so I can judge the credibility of the information. A blog is a great vehicle for publishing information with other corroborating information at hand.

Phillippe Borremans started his blog focused on media training and the use of weblogs and RSS technology. He explained it thus:

“Why the combination ?

I am convinced that media relations and PR has fundamentally changed in the last couple of years and that our profession will never be the same again once we understand the impact internet technology has on our day to day job, our customers and our relation with the public at large.

I am also convinced that communications is a “people thing”. And if you take all the hype and jargon out of it, you understand that the core of our work is to have conversations with people. Real people - not statistics or target audiences - and real conversations, not advertising slogans.”

He is a Founding Member of the International Association of Online Communicators and would have signed the Cluetrain Manifesto if he’d had the chance. (I did.)

He works for IBM in Belgium as a PR Manager, and is a member of LinkedIn Bloggers, where I was led to his blog as this week’s featured blog.

    Hi Laura,

I thought I did sign the Cluetrain Manifesto…like years ago…

Anyway, I was this strange guy running around at the office, wielding the book like it was the bible…

I love the part on PR and must say that the central idea about markets are conversations is making its way into many companies.

Glad to hear you like what I try to say on my blog.

Well, you just looked much too young to have had the opportunity to sign the Cluetrain Manifesto.
