When I&#039;m interviewing, two additonal simple but effective questions I often ask are:

1.  &quot;What do you really do? I mean...REALLY do?&quot;

I don&#039;t want to hear, &quot;I&#039;m an accountant.&quot; I push for, &quot;I make people&#039;s lives easier by figuring out the math for them so they can focus on what is important to them in their life.&quot; These answers create emotional connections that people can identify with quickly and easily.

2.  &quot;How did you get this job?&quot;

People LOVE to tell the story about how they got their job. It&#039;s a sure-fire way to loosen them up and get them comfortable right out the gate. You can go anywhere after this one!
