Heads Up: Installing MS Office 2007
I just got this from another listserv and thought it worth posting right away.
A detail has been left out of the latest installation file for Office 2007, a requirement that previous versions of Office be uninstalled first.
It seems the software does not check for previous versions, nor notify the user before beginning the installation. Details of this requirement are on the Microsoft website.
If Office 2007 is installed over previous versions of Office, the result is the dreaded “Blue Screen of Death” and corruption of files.
If you or your group is contemplating the move, be a hero and ask your IT folks to be sure to uninstall Office 2003 before installing the new version.
