February 12, 2010, Falls Church, VA:
24 Hour Company was engaged by Laura Ricci, proposal consultant, to provide proposal graphic support for a Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) project bid by a leading contracting firm. The BARDA proposal represented a new business opportunity for the client.

According to Laura Ricci, proposal consultant, the big challenge on this project was time. There were only 3 ½ weeks to create a $43 million proposal from virtually nothing. And there was no time to bring a temporary or freelance graphic artist up to speed on what a Gantt chart is, and explain why we need to pay attention to font sizes.

24 Hour Company worked lockstep with Laura’s team to keep the project moving, meeting every deadline given them for graphic support. The proposal was submitted on time to the agency, and the client was pleased.

Laura Ricci, proposal consultant, had this to say about 24 Hour Company’s graphic support, “Speed counted on this job, and being able to work on our turnaround schedule was absolutely critical. My team worked from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. every day, and your designers were always available to support us. Since the proposal may end up on Capitol Hill, I’m glad it will look spiffy with good graphics.”

24 Hour Company, Inc., a Falls Church, VA firm started in 1992, specializes in the highest quality bid-winning proposal graphics and desktop publishing, 24/7 deadline-driven service, and headache-free project management. PEWAUKEE, Wisconsin -- August 25, 2006 -- GrowWisconsin is a new group of grant writers experienced at winning grants on behalf of businesses and institutions. The group began meeting at client facilities and took the opportunity at their last meeting to get a tour of their host's facilities, Global GeneTech, in Madison Wisconsin.

"It seems an ideal way to let he creative streak in each of the grant writers practice with new inspiration." said Laura Ricci, a consultant and proposal expert. Ideas for Global GeneTech were discussed and volunteered during the tour, and potential sales opportunities and partnerships were volunteered by members of the group who are well connected in emerging science-based firms and research institutions.

The agenda for the meeting focused on funding opportunities such as SBIR (small business grants from the federal Small Business Administration) and Wisconsin Department of Commerce support for Wisconsin businesses seeking funding.

Each month the group meets at a different location, and organizations hosting their meetings are welcome to attend. "These writers and consultants are seasoned professionals. Any firm competing for federal funds would be interested in eavesdropping on their tips and tidbits.

We can't and don't discuss particular clients, but we share all kinds of helpful hints and background information. At our last meeting, I caught suggestions that would save a start-up over $8,000.00 in set-up costs alone." commented Ricci.

Many attendees are independent consultants and free lance with a variety of firms. Some of the grant writers are "captured" or working full time for a business firm or non-profit. All of them have strong track records and are willing to help each other succeed.

"We are motivated to help Wisconsin succeed." said Brian Curry, ad hoc leader of the group, "and in many cases we are the link between Wisconsin and Washington for funding approval."

Anyone currently providing grant writing services in Wisconsin is welcome to join their monthly meetings by sending an inquiry to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Their website is at www.growwisconsin.org

The purpose of the group is to improve Wisconsin's competitiveness, particularly in SBIR / STTR and other grant arenas. The informal meetings provide Wisconsin grant writers opportunities to network and develop best practices.

"The unconscious being excavated by scientists processes data, sets goals, judges people, formulates stereotypes and infers causes, all outside our conscious awareness...The adaptive unconscious also sizes up people's motives, character and intent"

Advanced techniques to improve marketing results in competitive procurements is a specialty of Laura Ricci, M.B.A.

By using subconscious accessing, you can enrich your message to the buyer and find deeper connections between yourself and your client.

Neuroscientists, such as Timothy D. Wilson and Antonio Damascio are proving the adaptive nature of the subconscious, and beginning to prove that we actually know, think, and act, on more than we can express consciously.

Your clients have this same cognitive ability and use covariation regularly. Ask Laura how she would suggest applying these techniques to strengthen your marketing effort.

New Client Demands Terrify Sales VPs

Milwaukee, WI -- "Commodity pricing" is a phrase that sends shivers down the spines of VPs of sales. Like a scary threat, clients ask for detailed proposals and refuse to talk openly with sales people. And to make matters worse, the length of time it takes to close a deal has multiplied from a few years ago. Does all this mean we are doomed? (c)2005 Laura Ricci

Laura Ricci says it isn't a horror flick, but a transition from consultative to complex sales. In a white paper just released, she explains the symptoms of the shift. Robert Foster, President of Equix Advisory Corporation said the paper is an "Outstanding piece of work."

The symptoms give Sales Leaders the shakes, but are predictable steps in the transition from consultative to complex sales. Longer lead times, complex RFPs, expanded contracts, and stronger competition are all symptoms of the transition. Industry consolidation is another symptom that tends to appear with this transition. "This is right on, and explains a lot just in my own business" said Rick Beauregard, a consultant with The Beauregard Groupe, after reviewing the white paper.

"I found new clients seeking help who were perplexed by the new demands and worried that they were in danger of losing their market. I've tried to help them see this is as shift with demands and opportunity, not a dark, one-way street" says Laura Ricci.

She outlines some of the skills that are needed for this transition. Her work with other industries prepared her to help new clients in industries now experiencing this shift. From this perspective she noticed the pattern, but found that no one had written about this phenomenon. (c)2005 Laura Ricci

The white paper is titled, What Changed Yours Sales Cycle and Why?, is available free at her website: http://www.1Ricci.com/SalesChange . Leslie Lassi, of CH2M Hill found the paper, "interesting, thought provoking and concisely stated. It resonated well with things I'm hearing in the engineering industry."
