STRATEGY FORMULATION Identify synergies between faculty research interests and funding agency priorities, and design proposals to accomplish most of each. Result: • Won $1.2 Million with recommendation to form a statewide coalition. The Wisconsin CyberSecurity program is positioned to capture tens of millions for Wisconsin. Result: • Federal Funding Forum attracts over 100 attendees (compared with an average of 30 for similar events) for a first time event on a modest budget supported by sponsors and modest staff support. This event culminates 9 months of prepatory workshops, preparing faculty to partner with industry. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Build systems to streamline process and preserve human resource. Result: • Supervised budget spreadsheet creation which halves time needed to complete multi-year budgets for NSF submission. This sophisticated budget spreadsheet meets NSF criteria, eliminates errors, and saves time for faculty and pre-award staff. • Engineered proposal database which saves faculty time in completing UWM Transmittal forms, allows in-advance tracking as opposed to after-the-fact reporting, eliminates 20 hours weekly labor in data management, and enriches information capture.
